Abstract (en)
Thermally insulating material (M) comprising a strand of synthetic aramid and a strand of synthetic preoxide (sic), which are split to form fibres. The fibers are mixed and spun, then knitted to obtain wicks, which are knotted to produce the material. The material is covered on at least one face with an intumescent material. INDEPENDENT claims are included for: (i) protecting an object by applying the material; and (ii) the protected object.

Matériau d'isolation thermique du type réalisé à partir d'un fil synthétique d'aramide et d'un fil synthétique préoxydé, ces fils étant craqués pour obtenir des fibres qui sont mélangées et filées, un certain nombre de fils ainsi obtenus étant tricotés pour obtenir des mèches, ces mèches étant elles mêmes tricotées pour obtenir ledit matériau, caractérisé en ce que le matériau (2) est revêtu, sur une face au moins, d'une couche d'une matière intumescente (3). <IMAGE>
