[origin: WO9965718A2] A system and method are provided for making an electrical connection of an instrument panel wiring to a vehicle body and engine compartment wiring during instrument panel installation. A first electrical connector assembly (112) is mounted to a rear surface of the instrument panel (IP) and a second electrical connector assembly (122) is mounted to the vehicle body and engaged with said first electrical connector assembly (112). During installation of the instrument panel (IP) within the vehicle body (B), the first and second electrical connector assemblies (112, 122) are aligned with one another such that as the instrument panel (IP) is pressed forward into an installed position, the first and second electrical connector assemblies (112, 122) are engaged with one another.
