[origin: EP1156179A2] The lock cylinder (1) has a cylinder core (4) with tumblers (5) and at least one plate-shaped control unit with a rotatable control disc (16) that has a peripheral recess. The control disc co-operates with a second lock element (19) that slides radially in the cylinder core. The second lock element is held in an inner groove in the cylinder casing (3) in the locked position of the control disc and slides radially through the end of the groove, which is formed as a guide slope, into the peripheral recess of the control disc, in the unlocked position. The control disc and the cylinder core each have a peripheral abutment, which are arranged, so that when the control disc is unlocked the cylinder core can rotated.
