[origin: EP1156294A2] The heat exchanger pipe (1) has integral annular or helical ribs (2) on the outer side of the pipe and deformed to form closed channels (4). The channels have continuous cross-section and are opened by outer pores (5,6) in at least two different sizes. The reciprocal ratio of the average sizes of the smallest sized pores (6) to the average sizes of the next largest sized pores (5) is 1.5 - 4. The frequency ratio of the number of smallest sized pores to the number of the next largest sized pores is between 12:1 and 1:5. An Independent claim is included for a method to manufacture the heat exchanger pipe.
