[origin: EP1156457A2] Device comprises a disk shaped centrifugal plate (1) onto which the coins are placed via an opening (12). The inner guide edge of the coin path, which is the outer edge of the centrifugal plate, has a groove of varying thickness, which is suited into which a coin edge fits. A number of disks are stacked above each other and serve to sort out coins by thickness. The sorting plate has a guide path that increases in width as the coins progress around it with openings that allow the coins to pass through so that they can be sorted by diameter into collection containers. The inner edge of the guide plate has a groove of decreasing thickness as the path progresses so that coins of differing thickness enter into the groove by varying amounts.
