The press section of a papermaking machine uses a common lower blanket (10) which is sufficiently dense to be impermeable to air when new and after wetting. When the lower blanket is under a pressure of ≥ 5 bar, at the press points, water can pass through it. The two upper blankets (7,12) are sufficiently open to be permeable to air when wet and not compressed. The press plane of the first press station (N1) is at an angle of ≥ 20 degrees against the vertical. The papermaking machine press section has an upper roller (1) at the first press station with a grooved mantle or fitted with blind drillings. Both the mantles of the two press rollers at the second press station have grooves and/or blind drillings. The common lower blanket is composed of two layers. The outer layer on the side towards the paper web is impermeable to air when wet, and the inner layer is very permeable and can absorb extracted water. The removal of water from the lower blanket is wholly inwards. At least one additional water extraction station (17,32,51) removes water from the blankets in addition to the presses (1-4), e.g. a water catch trough behind the blanket deflection rollers, or air jets which flush out the water and suction slits to carry it away. A suction roller (16) is within the loop of the upper blanket at the first press. The lower roller of the first press is a shoe press roller with a convex sector at the concave press surface with a radius of 40-80 mm on an angular extension of 2-5 degrees , followed by a sector with a larger radius. An edge retainer holds at least one edge of the upper blanket downwards, after each press zone, increasingly over an edge zone of ≥ 100 mm and ≥ 20 mm at the blanket edge.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Pressenpartie einer Papiermaschine mit zwei Preßstellen (N1,N2) mit den folgenden Merkmalen: durch die Preßstellen (N1,N2) laufen ein gemeinsamer Unterfilz (10) sowie ein Oberfilz (7,12); die zweite Presse (3,4) ist eine Schuhpresse; die Schuhpreßwalze (3) der zweiten Presse (3,4) befindet sich oberhalb der unteren Walze (4); die Preßebene der zweiten Presse verläuft im wesentlichen vertikal oder unter einem Winkel von maximal 20° gegen die Senkrechte geneigt. Sie ist gekennzeichnet durch die folgenden Merkmale: der gemeinsame Unterfilz (10) ist so dicht, daß er auch im Neuzustand nach Befeuchtung im wesentlichen luftundurchlässig ist; der gemeinsame Unterfilz (10) ist andererseits noch genügend offen, um bei Drücken von über 5 bar in den Preßstellen Wasser durchzulassen; die beiden Oberfilze (7,12) sind so offen, daß sie in befeuchtetem, nicht zusammengepreßten Zustand Luft durchlassen; die Preßebene der ersten Presse (N1) ist um einen Winkel von über 20° gegen die Senkrechte geneigt. <IMAGE>
