Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0056187A1] The invention relates to an improved telescope-type tubular construction, whose length or height can be adjusted. Said construction is characterised by the following features: an adjusting and setting device (35) is provided for at least one bearing unit (19). The adjusting and setting device (35) comprises at least one adjusting and setting element (39) which can be adjusted by a component that runs parallel to the central longitudinal or adjusting axis (37) and which has a wedge-shaped adjusting section (45). In said wedge-shaped adjusting section (45), the bearing unit(s) (19) which can be adjusted to different positions are at least indirectly supported in such a way that the distance in a transverse or radial direction in relation to the central longitudinal or adjusting axis (37) can be adjusted in various ways, based on the different axial position of the adjusting and setting element (39).
