Abstract (en)
[origin: DE19907508A1] The component(1) has a fiber-reinforced inner layer(3) and an continuous outer elastic cover(4) with a smooth surface. Both layers are injection molded in the same tool and the inner and outer layers are fused onto each other during the injection to form an integral structure. Independent claims are made for: a) process equipment for molding the component which includes an injection mold with a heated core and an outer tool and an additional plasticizing unit; b) the component molding process in which plasticized material for the cover(4) is injected into the mold followed immediately by the fiber-reinforced material(3) and the molding cooled before demolding.
