[origin: WO0055384A1] The inventive method and the corresponding device (2) are used to coat a support body (3) with a hard magnetic SE-FE-B layer (4) (SE = rare earth, FE = ferromagnetic element; especially NdFeB) with a relatively large thickness by using a plasma spraying process. Several coating phases are provided with intermediary coating phases. Towards the end of the coating process, the temperature of the support body (3) should be increased to a temperature level which ensures a recrystallization of the magnetic material. Different areas of the support body can be covered by a plasma stream (16) in a subsequent and repeated manner. To this end, a plasma spraying unit (5) of the device (2) can be configured such that it can pivot.
