[origin: WO0055459A1] The invention relates to an espagnolette-type locking mechanism for driving and operating a drive rod fitting. The aim of the invention is to provide such an espagnolette-type locking mechanism that is characterized by a high degree of power transmission from the pinion to the drive rod and by an improved interaction of the drive rod and the pinions. To this end, an insert (30) is mounted on the drive rod (3) which insert is effective between the pinion (5) and the drive rod (3) and whose shape is adapted to the contour of the teeth (7) of said pinion (5).
