[origin: WO0056259A1] The bed (10) is provided with a height-adjustable underframe (14) comprising several supporting legs (16) and an upper frame (12) which is connected to the underframe. Each leg (16) has a swivelling roller and/or a guide roller (40) on the lower end (38) thereof, whereby said rollers are received by the leg (16) and surrounded by a supporting edge (52) of the leg (16) on the lower end thereof. The roller (40) is maintained by a retaining element (42,44) which is guided on the leg (16) so that the roller (40) can move from the lower end (38) of the leg (16) beyond the supporting edge (52) into the lower edge of the leg (15). A lifting device (56) can be moved out of the upper end (68) of the leg (16) and into the upper end (68) of the leg. Said lifting device has a fastening element (76) which is joined to the upper frame (12). In the inventive bed (10), the lifting device has a double spindle arrangement (56) consisting of a drivable inner spindle (60) which protrudes above the leg (16) with the upper end thereof (74) and a hollow spindle (62) which receives it. The upper end (74) of the inner spindle (60) can be brought to engage with a drive element (84) which can be driven by a driving device (88) which can be connected to the fastening element (76). The thread of the inner spindle (60) engages with the hollow spindle (62) and the thread of the hollow spindle (62) engages with the leg (16). The hollow spindle (62) and/or the inner spindle (60) press/presses against the retaining element (42, 44) of the roller (40) towards the end of its/their movement into the leg (16) and as it/they move(s) further inwards, it/they move(s) the leg (16) in the direction of the fastening element (76), whereby the roller (40) of the leg (16) protrudes downwards above the supporting edge (52) and the leg (16) rests on the edge (52) when the hollow spindle (62) moves away from the retaining element (42, 44) of the roller (40).
