[origin: WO0056967A1] The invention relates to a pile fabric comprising a textile support structure (1) and a trimming consisting of pile threads (3) which are anchored in the support structure (1). The aim of the invention is to produce a pile fabric of said type with good properties which are evenly distributed over the entire surface thereof i.e. to produce a fabric which retains a good abrasive and absorbent effect and retains its volume over the entire surface. An additional aim is to improve the mechanical anchoring of the rigid pile threads (3) in the support structure (1). To this end, the inventive pile threads (3) consist wholly or partially of a multi-filament yarn which contains both fine filaments (4) and coarse filaments (5). The coarse filament count is more than 25 times greater than the fine filament (4) count.
