[origin: LU90494B1] Glow plug arrangement comprises a glow plug (10) with heater (18) and ion sensor (20) systems. Two switching voltage sources are provided the first for generating a heater supply voltage to apply the heating system and the second for the ion sensor. The ion sensor (20) supply voltage has a different polarity to the heater supply voltage. The second switching devise comprises a simple diode or Schottky diode. Depending of the polarity of the voltage the diode either opens or closes the heater circuit. A Schottky diode is preferable due to the advantageous power loss.
