[origin: WO0156747A1] The aim of the invention is to provide a universally useful clamping device that comprises a displaceable clamping bar (14) and an actuation device (12) that includes a handle element (77) with which the clamping bar (14) can be displaced. To this end, the clamping bar (14) can be displaced, via the handle element (77), in a direction (A) or in the opposite direction (B). The clamping device is further provided with a switch device that permits the displacement in a direction (A; B) and that blocks the displacement in the opposite direction (B; A).
