[origin: WO0058925A1] A remote-control system is provided for controlling a plurality of devices located in different rooms of a structure and areas in the vicinity of the structure comprising: at least one user operated controller for generating wireless command signals encoding data; a control unit for each of the plurality of devices that receives wireless command signals generated by the at least one controller and controls a device responsive to data in a wireless command signal that it receives; a wireless communications network comprising at least one transceiver that transmits wireless command signals from one side to the other of a wall of the structure; wherein the at least one controller transmits command signals that are routed to a control unit of a device of the plurality of devices through the at least one transceiver.
