Abstract (en)
[origin: WO0060825A1] A technique for deploying a network cache server with a redirecting switch to permit document request messages to be routed to a cache server or transparently bypassed through to the originating home server. The method optimizes the number of objects delivered from the cache by maintaining a list of popular stored objects and providing the list of stored objects to the message redirector. When under a maximum connection load, the message redirector enters a selectivity mode in which, when a new connection request is received, it is not routed up to the cache server.
