Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1167696A2] The labyrinth seal consists of sealing strips (2) installed between the rotating and stationary parts and fitted in slots (3) on the rotor or stator (1). The axial rigidity of the rotor or stator between the two sealing strips is in the main constant. At least one relief slot (6) which at most equals the depth of the slot for the sealing strip is located between two sealing strips. The relief slots may be totally or partially filled with an elastic filler and may be a wire.
