The valve closure plug (16), is initially in the closed position. Using a control parameter, it is first brought to a position of opening and then to a target position selected from a number of possible closed positions. The control parameter influencing the closure section is selected as a function of the initial and target positions. An Independent claim is included for the corresponding fuel injection system.

Ein Verfahren zum Betreiben eines Einspritzventils (1) für Kraftstoff, bei dem ein in einer Schließposition als Ausgangsposition befindliches Verschließglied (16) anhand eines Kontrollparameters zuerst in eine Öffnungsposition und nachfolgend in eine aus einer Anzahl von Schließpositionen ausgewählte Zielposition gebracht wird, soll auch im Hinblick auf eine besonders genaue Einhaltung einer vorgegebenen Einspritzmenge für eine Verwendung doppel- oder mehrfachschaltender Ventile besonders geeignet sein. Dazu wird erfindungsgemäß der das Verschließglied (16) beeinflussende Kontrollparameter in Abhängigkeit von der Ausgangsposition und von der Zielposition gewählt. <IMAGE>
