Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0057165A1] The invention provides a method and apparatus for detecting negative ions in water, which needs no replacement of ion-exchange resin and which is easy to operate and capable of low-cost measurements with accuracy. The apparatus for detecting negative ions in water comprises an electrolyzer including a cation-exchange membrane between an anode compartment with an anode plate and a cathode compartment with a cathode plate; a DC power supply unit for applying DC voltage between the anode and cathode of the electrolyzer; and an electric conductivity cell for measuring the electric conductivity of sample water. The anode compartment of the electrolyzer connects a channel for introducing sample water into the anode compartment and a discharge channel for discharging the electrolyzed water from the anode compartment, and the discharge channel is connected with the cathode compartment through the electric conductivity cell.
