[origin: DE19917009A1] The vacuum pump's gas inlet valve(12) is pressure controlled and installed in such a way that it opens during the suction stroke, and preferably during the first phase of it. The gas inlet valve and exhaust valve(7) are end-mounted close to one another in the cross sectional surface of the cylinder bore and are component parts of the cylinder head(4). A gas inlet chamber(14) or pipe is located in the cylinder head, and the gas inlet valve is located in the mouth of the chamber or pipe where it enters the suction chamber.
