[origin: EP1045601A1] According to the inventive method for the measurement of service quality in communications networks, special test connections are established from the individual user terminals to a test centre or from said test centre to the individual user terminals. Different measurements are taken during the test connection. The exact time and the geographic position of a mobile telephone at the time of measurement, diverse parameters of the air interface, error rates and field strengths on both sides of the connection as well as the uplink or downlink connection quality can be determined. The inventive measurements of quality can thus be carried out almost at any time and any location independently from the phoning habits of the mobile telephone users.
