Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0064721A2] The invention relates to a low-platform rail vehicle. The bogies (1), including the driven undercarriages, are provided with continuous shafts (11) for the wheel sets and small wheels (the diameter of said wheels ranges from approximately 470 - 560 mm) . Differences in the level of the floor (i.e. platform) above the bogies (1) and in the level in the region of the entrances (18) are compensated by ramps (19,19') which are preferably inclined at a maximum angle of 10 % and run in the longitudinal direction of the rail vehicle. Ramps (20) extending from the door openings (entrances 18) are also optionally arranged. Said ramps ascend towards the longitudinal axis of the vehicle (29) and terminate, preferably, in front of said longitudinal vehicle axis (29).
