Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1172127A2] The oxygen in the storage room (3) is constantly kept at a low level by inserting an inert gas like nitrogen through a supply duct (23) replacing the gas high in oxygen which is removed through a second duct (10). The entrance of the room is protected from a re-invasion of the gas high in oxygen by a sluice chamber (5, 11). When an item (2a) is to be added to the ones already stored (2), it is transported on a conveyor belt to a first door (7) which opens automatically andis closed after the item (2a) has entered. A second door (8) opens after the outer door (7) is closed.
