[origin: EP1172779A2] A pipe (20) with a fire monitoring device has a continuous detector arrangement which extends mainly in the longitudinal direction of the pipe, in which the detector arrangement has a number of metallic conductors. At least one of the metallic conductors has an insulating layer, which melts under the influence of heat from a fire and the contact of the conductor with the molten insulating layer generates a signal which is used to indicate a fire.
