[origin: DE19918294A1] 3-Aryloxy-1,1-dioxo-1,4,2-dithiaza-heterocyclic compounds (I) are new. 3-Aryloxy-1,1-dioxo-1,4,2-dithiaza-heterocyclic compounds of formula (I) are new. Ar = optionally substituted aryl; and Y = optionally substituted alkanediyl Independent claims are included for: (1) the preparation of (I); (2) new halo-substituted intermediates of formula (II); and (3) the preparation of (II). Y<1> = methylene, 1,2- or 1,1-ethylene, 1,1-, 1,2-,1,3- or 2,2-propylene, 1,1-, 1,2-, 2,2- or 2,3-butylene or 1,2- or 1,1-(2-methyl-propylene), all optionally mono- or disubstituted by Ph, provided that Y<1> is not unsubstituted methylene or unsubstituted 1,2-ethylene; and X<1> = halo, preferably Cl or Br.
