[origin: WO0046829A1] The invention relates to a self-recovering current-limiting device with liquid metal. The device contains a first electrode and a second electrode (11; 12) and several compressor chambers (3) which are partially filled with liquid metal (8)and which are located one behind the other, between the electrodes (11; 12). Said compressor chambers (3) are formed by pressure-resistant insulating bodies (4; 5) and insulating intermediate walls (6) which are held in place by said insulating bodies and which have connecting channels (9). A first connecting conductor (21) which is connected to the first electrode (6) passes beneath the compressor chambers (3) with an inverse current direction. A ferromagnetic body (10) is situated above the compressor chambers (3).
