Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1174046A2] To separate tobacco into individual fibers, the flow of tobacco (226,305) is compressed towards an accelerator stage (258,303), as a tobacco web. The separate tobacco fibers are spun off by acceleration, using an air blower. The tobacco is compressed by reducing the flow speed, and by a second air stream to compact it, so that it becomes denser as it approaches the separation stage.
