Abstract (en)
In an escalator having a lot of steps connected to be an endless chain and moved, means for shifting a rotation locus of step forward wheels at both end portions toward end portions of the escalator than a rotation locus of the chain is provided. A forward wheel guide means for guiding so as to extend, at both end portions of the escalator, a straight distance between forward wheels of adjacent two steps, which distance tends to be shortened by the chain drawing an arc at the both end portions is provided. By those constructions, interference between adjacent steps is hard to occur even if a rotation diameter of the steps at each end portion of the escalator is made small. Therefore, the rotation diameter of the steps can be made smaller than a conventional one and the escalator thickness size can be made small. <IMAGE>
