[origin: EP1174563A2] The linkage arms for an awning have arm sections (2) and joints (5,9) with structured dimensions and positions so that a lateral force is applied to a sliding tilting rod, which is parallel to the deployment profile (11) or building wall when it is operated. The bearing side of the tilting rod is pushed against a spring (18) towards the lateral force which engages/disengages a coupling (10) and disengages a coupling (19) through a force which overcomes the spring for the tilting rod to swing on a horizontal axis. When the deployment profile is extended, the coupling (19) is engaged and the swing movement is blocked.
