[origin: EP1176364A1] The combustion system has a control unit (3) installed to adjust the flow passage of a restrictor unit (15) on the basis of a flow passage change effected by the control unit and change ensuing from it of an ionization signal generated by an ionizing measurement device (2). To adjust the flow passage of the restrictor the control unit measures a first value of the ionizing signal with a first setting of the restrictor flow passage, and a second value with a second setting different from the first. An Independent claim is included for a procedure for the control of a combustion unit to burn a gas and air mixture.
