Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1176385A1] A munition has an explosive charge (3) inside a steel or tungsten shell (2) covered by a plastic casing (7) designed to produce different mechanical stresses that promote fragmentation of the shell in a regular pattern. The different stresses can be produced by a relief network (10) surrounding a series of recessed squares (9) on the inner surface of the casing, or by a metal, ceramic or plastic mesh layer between the shell and casing or embedded in the casing.
