Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1176569A2] Floating car traffic data that includes information on a vehicle's place and speed is picked up in time gaps for each section on a route to determine whether an actual tight spot is present. If the answer is 'yes', up-to-date floating car traffic data defines a pattern of dense traffic fitting this situation as a currently existing pattern of dense traffic. Traffic conditions are classified in phases: free traffic, synchronized traffic and wide jams on the move.
