Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1177866A2] The rotary cutter assembly has a rotary cutting blade (2) and a counter blade (4), forming a cutting gap (6) between them. The cutting edge of the rotary blade and the cutting edge (16) of the counter blade are electrically insulated from each other. Both cutting edges have an electrical connection to the inputs (26,27) of a monitor unit (24), which registers the electrical resistance between the inputs and generates an optical and/or acoustic signal if the resistance drops below a given threshold value.
