[origin: WO0070168A1] The invention relates to an underlay, in particular to a sound-proofing device for floor coverings, such as laminate, veneer and/or wooden flooring. Said device comprises an element consisting of a binding agent and fillers which can be, or is at least partially attached to the underside of the floor covering. The invention aims to provide a cost-effective solution which reduces the excitation of hard floor coverings of this type, to such an extent that the footfall created when walking on said covering is not considered to be disturbing. In addition, the invention aims to prevent the floor covering from being glued to the underlay. This is achieved by the element (8) having a layer thickness of 1 to 6 mm and a weight of between 0.8 and 2.80 kg/m<2> per mm of layer thickness, depending on the chosen fillers (7) and their particle size distribution.
