Abstract (en)
[origin: DE19924924A1] The invention relates to a light-scanning system for knitting-machine needles, in particular for circular knitting machines. Said system comprises a control unit, containing at least one light source and an evaluation unit with a receiver, at least one first (22, 42) and one second (24, 44) optical waveguide, whereby the first optical waveguide (22, 42) has a first end which is connected to the light source, in order to feed light into the first optical waveguide and a second end (26) which is fixed into a sleeve (20, 46), in order to beam the light onto a needle. The second optical waveguide (24, 44) has a first end (30) which is fixed into the sleeve (20, 48) so close to the second end (26) of the first optical waveguide (22, 42), that the reflected beam from the needle enters the second optical waveguide (24, 44) and has a second end which is connected to the evaluation unit in such a way that the reflected beam is fed to the receiver.
