[origin: WO0076828A1] The invention relates to a method for monitoring a vehicle (1), especially a railway train, and/or a path of travel (5), especially a railway track. According to said method, the vibration behaviour of the vehicle during operational driving is determined at several measuring points (14, 17) on the vehicle (1). The vibration behaviour of the vehicle in the frequency range below 500 Hz is detected at a first measuring point (14), in a first measuring signal and structure-borne noise is detected - preferably simultaneously - at a second measuring point (17), in a second measuring signal. The two measuring signals are supplied to an evaluating unit (23). An actual characteristic value is preferably formed from the first and second measuring signals in the evaluating unit (23), and is e.g. compared to a reference characteristic value representing a desired state. A device that is suitable for carrying out this method has a first vibration sensor (15) and a second vibration sensor (19), which are connected to an evaluating unit (23) to which the measuring signals from the vibration sensors (15, 19) can be delivered.
