Abstract (en)
[origin: DE19925598A1] When melts are discharged from a metallurgic melting vessel through a discharge opening provided in the floor of the furnace, a hollow swirl (vortex) can form, resulting in an unwanted carry-over of slag. The aim of the invention is to prevent this hollow swirl from forming. To this end, the discharge channel (11) has a non-circular form and is slot-shaped or elliptic, at least on the side of the incoming melt (12).
