[origin: DE10012778A1] The method involves detecting at least one gas or vapor related state parameter inside the tank system and/or in the vehicle surroundings, detecting a pressure to be expected in the fuel tank system taking into account the detected state parameter and either feeding the gas or vapor out via an active carbon filter (12) for an overpressure or closing the tank system for leak testing using a detected vacuum. Independent claims are also included for the following: an arrangement for operation of a fuel tank system.
