[origin: DE19925685A1] The invention relates to a system (1) for determining the physical quantity and/or for the chemical analysis of a hot liquid (3), especially of a steel melt or slag by optical means. Said system comprises an observation tube (4) that contacts the hot liquid and is fire-proof, an imaging device (6) that is mounted inside the observation tube or on its end and a measuring or analytical device (9) that is optically allocated to the imaging device. The observation tube (4) is freely arranged above the liquid level and from this position dips into the liquid (3).
