[origin: WO0070915A1] A method for the production of a heater element (13) on a target area (11), comprising the steps of: (A) preparing particles of specified size range, made of a metallic alloy including boron; (B) applying the particles to the target area, using a plasma or flame spray process. The particles preferably contain about 1 to 10 % of boron. The plasma or flame spray contains oxygen to allow the formation of oxides on the liquid particles in the spray. Preferably, the target area is made of an insulating material like ceramics. A heater element comprising an electrically resistive layer (13) fabricated by the deposition of boron-containing particles on an insulating surface, using a plasma or flame spray method.
