[origin: WO0073189A1] The invention relates to a method and a device for cleaning yarn, according to which defects in the yarn are cut out and a cleaning limit separates defects to be removed from defects which are not to be removed. To permit the improved, simpler and rapid setting of the cleaning limit so that the effect of said limit on the end product can be anticipated more clearly, the invention provides for representations of defects (34-36) in the end product (33) to be generated on the basis of the cleaning limit and for the effect of the defects on the end product to be made visible in the representations.
