[origin: DE19929843A1] The invention relates to a device for treating surfaces, especially for moistening and/or cleaning rapidly moving surfaces, especially paper webs. A liquid transferring roller (32) transfers liquid from a liquid trough (30) into which it is partially dipped to a treatment line (16) which can be contacted by said roller, at a point which is located upstream of a second point (42) where the treatment line (16) can be pressed against the moving surface (6.1, 6.2) to be treated in the direction of movement of the surface to be treated (6.1, 6.2),. The distance between the two contact points (40, 42) leaves the liquid time to distribute itself evenly in the treatment line (16). As a result, very small quantities of moisture can be transferred to the surface (6.1, 6.2) to be moistened or cleaned in exact doses, even when the surface is being moved at high speeds.
