Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0181099A1] The invention relates to a ring-binder mechanism for receiving perforated written material. Said ring-binder mechanism has a housing (10) comprising housing flanks (28) that can be opened in a spring-loaded manner. Two support bars (20) that can be pivoted towards one another in the vicinity of their facing longitudinal edges in the manner of a toggle under the spring-loaded action of the housing flanks (28), are located in the housing. At least two half-rings (16), which in pairs form a ring (14), are located at a defined longitudinal distance from each other and are rigidly fixed to the support bars (20). In addition, the mechanism comprises at least one locking element (32) which can be displaced, using an actuating organ (18), substantially parallel to the axis of articulation (22) in relation to the housing (10) and to the support bars (20). In the locked position, said locking element engages in an open space (34) between the support bars (20) and one wall of the housing (13), thus locking the pivoting movement of the support bars (20) and in the open position, said element releases the pivoting route about the axis of articulation (22). According to the invention, the locking element(s) (32) is/are pretensioned by a closing spring (36) in the direction of the locked position.
