Abstract (en)
[origin: GB2351515A] An anchoring device, for retaining a spring rail clip (3) e.g. of M-shape against a railway rail, comprises an anchoring stem part (40), for fixing to a rail foundation and a clip-retaining head part (41), engageable with the stem part (40), for retaining the clip (3), the height of the rail clip (3) relative to the rail foundation being determined by the position of the head part (41) relative to the stem part (40). Adjustment of the position of the head part (41) relative to the stem part (40) is effected by translational movement of the head part (41). Facing serrated surfaces locked together by a wedge (43) are provided on the parts (40,41) retain them in the adjusted position. Alternatively, a bolt in outsize holes is provided. For adjusting lateral rail positions in a rail fastening assembly the head part (41) of at least one of the anchoring devices is replaced by another head part having an overall thickness, at a portion lying between the rail foot and the stem part (40), which differs from that of the first-mentioned head part (41).
