Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1190858A1] Cleaner for ink ejection bus (18) of an ink jet printer. The cleaner has a fixed spray head (22), situated in front of the ink ejection bus (18), which sprays a cleaning solvent. The head then blows dry air towards the bus (18) along an oblique direction with respect to the ink jet, when the printer is started. The spray head has an orifice with diameter 5 to 15 times that of the bus (18). The distance between the spray head and the ink jet bus is from 5 to 15 times the heads diameter. The spray head is placed at the end of a feed pipe (24) designed to be connected to a solvent reservoir (26) by a first electro-valve (28) and to a compressed air circuit by a second electro-valve (32), or by a three way electro-valve. The electro-valves are connected to a programmable central control unit (34), designed to regulate the spay head solvent and air volumes and pressures as a function of the ink used in the printer. A porous recuperation surface is provided to collect the cleaning residue.
