Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1190959A1] Cup-shaped cartridge for e.g. coffee-making machines, designed for extraction under pressure, has lid soldered over the circumference of the cup edge and designed to tear off under the sole effect of the pressure of the extraction fluid at the beginning of the extraction, and contains means ensuring that the solids are retained in the cup when it is open. Closed cartridge, designed for extraction under pressure, contains the substance used for preparation of beverage, selected from roasted ground coffee, tea, soluble coffee, mixed soluble/ground coffee, chocolate or any other dehydrated food grade substance of this kind, and comprises cup with bottom having central and peripheral part and lateral wall in shape of truncated cone, with circular edge of larger diameter than that of the bottom, and lid soldered over the circumference of the cup edge and designed to tear off under the sole effect of the pressure of the extraction fluid at the beginning of the extraction. The cartridge also comprises, inside the cup, at the level of its bottom, a means ensuring that the solid substance remains retained in the cup when it is open. The means for retaining solid substance in the cup comprise the sheet of cloth sealed to the bottom of the cup over two zones, in the central and peripheral parts of the bottom.
