[origin: DE19927267A1] The invention relates to a filter device for filtering liquids, comprising at least one filter element which encompasses an inner chamber, delimited by a lateral wall and a base, for accommodating a filter cake, a feed line for supplying the liquid to be filtered and a drain line for draining the filtered liquid. As the filter element comprises a pressure piston which impinges upon the inner chamber in order to modify the volume of the filter cake, uniform, reproducible operating conditions can be created at high flow rates. In particular, it is also possible to achieve simple automation and varied use of the device in different application areas.
