[origin: WO0140638A2] The invention relates to a fuel supply system for an internal combustion engine that is provided with a fuel feed pump (10) that supplies the pre-pressurized fuel to a high-pressure fuel pump (11) that is linked with at least one injection valve (14) on the high-pressure side to supply the injection valve with the pressurized fuel. The aim of the invention is to avoid the formation of steam bubbles in the high-pressure fuel pump (11) that impairs the pump capacity or the pressure generation. To this end, the high-pressure fuel pump (11) can be supplied with a coolant flow via at least one cooling channel (21) for maintaining the temperature (THDP) of the high-pressure fuel pump (11) below a critical working temperature (TK1).
