The tunnel contact comprises a first electrode (1), a second electrode (2) and a gap (3) between the first (1) and second (2) electrode. Gas or a vacuum is located in the gap (3), whereby it is possible to create a flow between the first (1) and second (2) electrode which tunnels its way through the gas or vacuum. According to the invention, the tunnel contact can be used in a non-volatile memory (10) in order to charge and discharge a storage electrode (11) with electrodes.
