[origin: DE19932483A1] The invention relates to a yarn feed device in which one or more yarn detector levers (16) are provided which, while resting on the yarn, exert a force thereon that is small when the lever (16) is in a specified position, i.e. during proper yarn travel. If the lever pivots outward due to a slackening of the yarn tension or a tear in the yarn, the force with which the lever exerts onto the yarn increases. This is, for example, effected by a load-relieving device (31) which partially offsets the lever weight and exerts a compensation force which is dependent on the pivoting angle. The compensation force preferably decreases as the lever continues to pivot outward.
